Locking the high level maps for low level players make no sense

    Locking the world maps based on player's level makes no sense to me. What is the problem is I want to go with my level 20 character to have fun with Herald or Sigri ?

    Or... you could just play the game as it was intended and level up.

    If it forced you to get exp would you do it?

    If it only dropped your level gear would you do it?

    If your drops where based on exp prior to level 50 would you stay level 20?


    I am sure you would not do it...

    You must be new here... or a PvP twink. Here is a little history:

    In the past, you were able to go anywhere at any level, but what would happen is that LVL 5 players would get to the end game areas and then party up with end game players. They would then get high level gear that melted very well. They would then apply those glyphs to their gear and enter PvP at low level with insanely strong gear and annihilate new players who were playing the game as was intended. Finally BigPoint did something about this and imposed level restrictions. Twinks are still a problem, but this move significantly impacted low level PvP in a positive way... problem is that it still isn't enough and BP needs to do more if they want to make low level PvP truly fair.

    If you still think that it would be a good idea to open these ares back up to all, then I am pleased to tell you that I doubt that it will happen for the reasons above and I don't care how much you don't like it, I'm actually happy that BP took this step. On the other hand, if you just didn't think about this, no problem... Everyone starts somewhere and has to learn that not all ideas are as good as they seem. I just think of every way elements of this game can be exploited so that when we talk about it on the forums, the mods/CMs pass it along so that it can hopefully be adressed.

    Well.. things changed so much in the last year or so. I have a level 50 char, one lv 42 and one lv 20. If I want very good gear and not to level up I just go with my lv 20 character in PW, in group with level 50 and I'll be full legendary in a couple of days (which I already did as the drops in PW have your level). Opening the maps for any level, as it was in the past, will be just for our fun, definitely not for the drops as one can't compare the drops from normal maps with the ones from PW.

    A couple of years ago, when the crystal of truth was active and couldn't open all the pinks and legendaries as I was saving for the eventual unique, I remember the challenges I had with the quest bosses, always had to make a group to go there. Nowadays, with the gear from PW and with the new skill and wisdom system, at the level I can enter the maps I have no challenge at all. I've just been with my level 42 DK to Sigri hard and was the most boring adventure ever, my HP was recovering faster than he could damage it.

    Therefore, if you want to farm to get strong at low level, you just go to PW, which is open from level 10. Locking the quest maps makes no difference, doesn't solve any problem. Going with a low level character to high level maps would be just to have some challenge and fun, any serious player would never really farm those maps while PW is one teleport away.

    Removing the HP potions in PVP would make a difference, balancing PVP, the same, locking the maps really doesn't. What BP did ? Exactly the one that has no effect..

    BTW, I've already opened a thread about balanced PVP, it can be soo easy. All they have to do is to move players, based on win and looses, down the rank bar as well, not only up, and then to make the battles between players of close rank only. Then PVP at any level will be fair enough.

    As it is right now you can get to marshal level without winning one game, only with points you make from loosing games :D (jk.. but possible in theory)

    No no no no, pvp is even worse, because their only solution is to pay, Pvp was fine in them days, when I first started I vs people with good glyphs but its not as bad as today, you have lvl 10-20 with 1.5k-2k damage, you have lvl 20 marshals, field marshals, lvl 30 field marshals, lvl restriction made pvp worse and the game less fun.

    I am not going to be mean just point out why high level areas should be locked.

    Most contain unique that melt for 15 to 40k melts. People would farm there for melts due to the level of the gear that dropped to ungrateful their gear to 55 on their level 1 toon. That is why they stop you from entering 5 levels higher.

    well, those unique doesn't have to drop for a low level. and if you take it like this, the levels were open before and the players were farming and getting strong. is only that the new players cannot farm, so how should they compete with old ones that had access ? and wouldn't be a problem if the battles would be balanced, made between players at same pvp level, but is not. the battles are made randomly between any two players that register for (I've been in many "legionnaire vs marshal" or close to, just because there are no other players registering). so pvp at the moment is only fun for big payers or for old players that had access to all maps. the new players just give up in playing pvp. if you want to bring balance you don't take away something that many already used and abused, but you bring in something new and give it equally to all.

    I got it :D I was just looking around at all the popping offers and it just hit me. PVP is not for free. You can play the game for free, finish all the quests for free, even finish PW with some effort, after lot of farming, but PVP is not free, that is if you like to have the smallest chance to win. PVP is for players that pay for their gear.

    To be full "polished gems" with some radiant here and there (especially the offensive ones) one needs to farm everyday for at least one year, more if you don't play every single day. Within 2-3 years maybe you can get full radiant, but you still have no chance in arena against a full sacred/royal player (and that is not possible to farm for free).

    Farming makes no difference, locking the maps makes no difference, it is something thrown at us to make us shut up in regards to PVP imbalance. the thing is that if you don't pay, no matter how many hours of farming and on what high level maps you do them, all the glyphs of power you can farm makes no difference at all (just compare the amount of glyphs of power with the benefit you get from them and with the benefit you get from high rank gems).

    Therefore, why would BP balance the PVP when the player is the one that needs to balance it by purchasing a PVP character... If they ever balance it, it is obvious they will loose money. And is not BP who did this imbalance, it is the rich players. BP just made a nice game with a trap inside, the andermant. We bit it. Of course now BP doesn't want to balance PVP by separating the payers from the free players (that is by matching the games between players at same level). It is your problem to buy the gear and get to the PVP level.

    I remember now why I moved to Balor, I just wanted to play some PVP with free to play players that you can find on quest maps (as the payers are in arena). And yes, we do have some fun on the quest maps, too bad Balor is not very popular..

    Just imagine a drakensang server without andermant, where everything can be purchased with gold and there is no option for one to buy anything with real money, where all comes from farming.. quite a sight :)

    Level 10 player farming PW is like farming Swerdfield Pastures only with much better drop ... it doesn't lead him anywhere.
    They are not looking for items but GoPs. When level 10 plays PW he gets level 10 gear even if he is in the group with level 50 players ... in Atlantis Above Water you get level 40 items. That means you can get much more GoPs in the normal maps ... especially in bosses dungeons.

    :) atlantis above water is locked by quest, not by level. same for atlantis, the adventure opens when you're 30. I just want to have some fun with my low level in tegan and torstrond..., if atlantis would be open, I won't complain, is for our fun...

    How much GoP do you think one can make ? And how that helps in PVP ? If you get a few million GoP at level 10 after months of very heavy farming (24/7) in atlantis, where you in fact don't even play and are at the mercy of some other players that takes you with them, you still don't have a chance against someone that buys gems. Plus that Atlantis is open for everyone in this case, being full royal is not.

    The imbalance comes from something not everyone have access to, and that is millions of andermant, not millions of GoP. Locking the high level maps gives the payers even a bigger advantage now. If farming GoP is locked, the only way to play arena is to pay.

    If at level 10 you get some GoP, the only fun is to go to high level maps and kill monsters. For arena you need to invest heavily in gems.

    and btw, million of GoP in atlantis is a big joke, especially if you depend on others... and I can bet, you at level 10 do an über boring farm for one year in atlantis and you won't stand a chance against one brand new character + 100 euro. And not the 100-200 euro players are ruining the pvp, but the 1k-5k playes.

    If the players will go up and down the pvp rank bar (depending on wins and defeats) and if the matches will be made only between players at close pvp rank then the big payers will stay somewhere at a marshal, grand marshal level, low payers will be knights of the order or around that and non payers will be legionnaire and centurions and they will never meet a marshal in battle. everyone will be happy..

    And the quests are locked by level... if a=b and b=c, then a=c. Thus, the areas are locked, at least partly, by level.

    Only Atlantis above water and everything after Andrakasch is locked by quests. All the rest could be open. If you finish already all the quests and PW with two characters and don't have enough money to play PVP, at least you should have the pleasure of starting with a low character and play high level maps with it... there is nothing else to do around here, especially on not so popular servers as balor where, during the day, the cities (besides kingshill and cardhun) are completely empty

    Nope... make a new toon and try to get to the Wild Forrest as soon as you get out of the tutorial. Tell me what happens (PS, you don't get blocked by a quest.)

    It's locked because the required level is 12. "could be open" means they can open the maps again and should open them. Locking them doesn't fix any problem, just takes away the fun and challenges of a "free to play" player.

    They will not unlock higher lvl areas for lower lvl players. No matter how sound you think your reasoning is... the argument is mute.

    you are wrong here. they will start listening if enough players will ask for and will unlock if majority asks for. it is our game in the end, we pay for it and they listen to their users as long they're interested in making money .
