No we don't like it ... we hate it. 97% of the players don't like the new skill system.
Everything that players worked for is taken away. And they have worked hard and for very long time.
With this new release all classes are nerfed down ... the new fame and knowledge trees are one big mess.
After this release I don't think that anyone will play the arena. What for? Everything has been removed and added a brand new fame tree of stupidity.
I know you CMs don't even understand the basics of this game .. or if you do understand you are working for the company that is making these changes .. and you can't raise your voice. So you can send these message to those "errand boys" (errand boys are not the programmers who are only implementing the code and doing the things that have been told to do ... but those in the higher ranks) :
    Players say NO!!
Do not dare to ruin this game!!!

Pretty much that. A lot of hardcore players already stopped playing after they saw the new system. Sadly, it´s aimed for new players, old fans are ignored for a long time already. It´s sad they care about money from new players more than about big fanbase. But I wonder if this change will really help their money income

For sure, you read and counted all feedback across all language forums to obtain that precise number?
Honestly, from what I have read so far, most people giving feedback (can't say how representative of all players those are) actually like the new system in general. And after all that development effort, it will inevitably come.
The only thing we can hope for are small amendments of details we don't like, and the more constructive our feedback is about those, the better the chances to be heard, I think.

I also have 3 flag bearers that hate that they have to pay skills with experience/knowledge now "again" that they got "extra" and "free" before just for their extensive PvP efforts. I hate to "lose" my mage's cyanite shield (because I think with 1 min cooldown it isn't worth 10 knowledge points). But my suggestion is not to keep the old system, but at least to reduce that cooldown to some 25-40 seconds (and why not via another new fame talent....)

From what I have seen, I think rangers and steam mechs become noob classes now - very easy to play, just because of the concentration/steam regeneration. I found the difficult resource management interesting in those classes, now they become easy (and boring) to play. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but I wouldn't call it "nerfed down" either.
For some changes like the reduction of critical hit rate, I am not happy about them, but see them as challenges that will make the game and farming new equipment interesting again.

Actually, I think the developers did a good job in cleaning it up and making it more simple and understandable, also giving PvE relevant skills/talents to everyone (this was demanded by many people...)

You are right, I don't see many incentives to play lots of PvP right now. While the new protective aura after one's death may also be interesting for hard boss fights, it only helps your companions, not yourself.
Playing PvP just to improve your PvP stats and increase your chances for playing even more PvP is not very satisfying.
On the other hand, enough people collected several millions of fame points more than needed to reach lvl 40. I suppose just the challenge to compete with a human intelligence instead of the (rather bad) game AI, and being higher in the ranks than others, makes PvP interesting.

Anyway, i think the whole situation will change with the introduction of guild battles, as you can earn rewards in andermant and gold there. Leveling up your fame talents by "normal" PvP will make you stronger for the guild battles - and I think everything is directed towards those already.

Sorry for this "discussion" posting in this thread. But as Greg and Haruki have been silent since the Gamescom, I felt I had to object to your "97%", and just wanted to ask people as experienced as you are for those small change proposals that will make the new system easier to accept also for us old slayers players, rather than just asking for keeping the old system (which will not happen).
One example I read so far is that the fame tree could give us some additional experience and wisdom points to distribute on the first two - a great idea in my p.o.v. and a fair compensation for the advantage we PvP Players are about to lose.

OK ... Armando I don't think you have been testing anything but hearing only gossips.
Fame tree skills are not working in PVE ... tested ... proved.

Guild battles you say? Well me and my friends will not participate in those battles ... while the rest of the players are spending their time in the arena for few andermant/gold ... we will be farming X100 for same amount of time ... of course if we still play this game after this release.

About the other things you stated.
    97% ....
Well if all your friends (and I have many friends across different servers) are saying they don't like it and will not set a foot in the arena ... and 2-3 of them are saying "I don't know let us see the changes first" ... then it must be the high % something like ~97%.

NOTE one thing ... whatever I said something and gave my opinion it turned to be 100% correct...
Now you can search my feedback posts in the past and calculate how accurate is 100%.

That is all I have to say.

PS. If this above sounds personal ... please forgive me ... it is not meant to be. I am just pissed off towards those treacherous, cash grabbing, worthless "errand boys".

Well, I have been using the new skill system for 12 chars of all 4 different classes on the test server, 3 of them being lvl 45 and 4 of them being wisdom lvl 30.

Sadly, I don't reach PvP lvl 25 on the test server yet, so I could not test the protective aura yet.
Are you telling us that also the supernova is not working in PvE any more?

Still I suppose the main motivation for PvP is competition/comparison with other humans. Rewards are just an additional incentive.
If you don't like PvP at all - well, this release will free you from it :).

I also don't know whether I will participate in guild battles, because my current, beloved guild is rather weak and not so active - and I would not like to leave it. Bad enough that now big guilds are rewarded with bigger individual bonuses.

You said "97% don't like the new skill system", not "the new fame tree". Huge difference. Especially, if most of your friends ARE/WERE PvP Players.

Don't worry, no offense meant or taken :). I know it is me who started replying to you, personally - and that is because I know how experienced you are, and I was hoping you might actually have some good proposals for amendments rather than saying "forget this crap". My own impression is rather so-so (loss of some useful skills, rangers become far too strong in my p.o.v.), but I know we will have to live with the new system, so the only chance we get is to change SOME things for the better.

Indeed let´s not confuse the skill skillsystem as a whole and the PvP skills. From looking on the forums discussion (EN and CZ,SK) most of the players like the experience skill system but dislike the PvP and wisdom ones, why ? Because those who finished 40 PVp rank lost a lot ... liberation is now free for everyone, moved to experience tree, cyanite shield etc. are useless because of the cooldown, skills like 33% faster projectiles dissapeard and more .. players are disgusted from this, because they worked hard to get those and now they cant even have all of them. The same case is about wisdom tree, 30% hp and dmg lost, and some skills from experience tree were moved to wisdom, including some skills from pvp. We could have all of them before, now we have to choose just some. Of course players get angry when they get weaker because of this. And I still remember Greg saying "don´t worry, you won´t loose anything"

And even aside we lost something, the new PvP skills are not appealing at all. Choosing +25% damage and reduced damage is a no brainer for 1v1 and 3v3. Where is the diversity that was promised ? ...Everyone would be happy if they keep the old trees and just redesign the experience ones.

Hey @Armando I will copy paste this just in case :)
Yes the fame skills are not working in PVE.
My character is more than 2 years old and I am at level 26 - 28 fame (can't remember) ...
Tested it yesterday and few days ago ... I have died in the wilderness and the explosion and the supportive aura are not working there ... and of course those other skills no one expect to work there because as described they have impact on players only.

Yes you are right my bad ... it was the new fame skills system ... however not all had the opportunity to test it on TS.
Even the exp and knowledge tree are not that good ... I mean of course it is a good thing to have more options for adjustments .. but at the end you are lacking the points and you end up with a weaker character than before.

Well, that is interesting news indeed. Obviously, BP indeed managed to strictly separate PvE and PvP relevant skills then.
Seems like PvP is for those who really like it, then. :-S

(The diversity in PvP fights will come from different experience tree skill sets... no need for specific PvP skills, in my p.o.v.
But my PvP motivation is fading as well, anyway....)

In a Twitch Haruki said something vague about DSO moving away from PvP, to concentrate on Lor'Tac. From our perspective, that may mean total chaos for several months at least.:eek::eek:

Le whot, m8? Did I actually say that?

I certainly have never said that DSO was moving away from PvP... It's a huge part of the game for a lot of players!! What I probably tried to say, maybe by looking at the quantity of the PvP questions that were asked in Facebook or here (related specially to matchmaking and balancing issues between classes) is that the team is currently focusing in Lor'Tac and in the redesign of the Fame Tree. They certainly want to improve the overall PvP experience of DSO (that includes tackling other internal aspects apart from the tree) but that will arrive after Lor'Tac.

Hopefully that is much better and it clarifies.
I do not like vague. Vague makes the community spin. I do not like that kind of spinning. ^^

Anyway, guys, Greg and me returned already from the Gamescom and it was quite. The. Experience.
I will try to give answers to the latest 3 new pages of comments of this thread tomorrow - interesting discussions, I see. Please, bear a little bit with us, until we catch up with the speed of your virtual wording.

    Thanks a lot!!

The idea of expanding the customization within the skills sounded like a really good idea on paper.

Instead of building upon what was already available why frustrate the players by starting over by reworking and removing certain aspects of the skills?

An official explanation to those who worked very hard to obtain specific dmg, speed and crit levels on why they are being punished and forced to choose which of those aspects to sacrifice in the new system, or why it was deemed necessary to nerf/dramatically alter certain skills/talents that we already worked so hard for instead of adding to those skills.

An official explanation to those who have worked very hard in pvp to obtain the fame bonuses as to why they now find that their efforts were in vain because instead of adding to the existing system, it was decided to give what had been earned away for free.

Granted the pool of players providing feedback here on the forums and on facebook are relatively small in comparison to the numbers of players within the game, yet there is a huge percentage who are commenting feel as if they are being punished by DSO by taking away what they have versus feeling good about what they are getting.

It would also be nice to know if any of our feedback about the new system is being implemented into the upcoming release scheduled for roughly two weeks from now and what those specific changes might be.

According to a posting by mod team leader Onrack in the German forum, the supernova cooldown has been reduced to 1 min as well, in between.
My question above is thus obsolete.

Last night, while I was in test server, I saw premium merchant selling Royal stroke of Lighting staff at 3K gold and leveled 45. What caught my eyes is the base damage of 272-419 in New staff, which is approximately 2x the present staff in live server which also cost the same amount and is of the same level. Is this new staff coming in live server with R155? What happens to the base damage of old 3k staff that we currently have?

    This is a Suggestive Question...

The new skill system has alot going for it. I like it but it does take some away from me.

Would you consider armor with a set or item mod that gives you a certain talent in the tree that people could use to free up more points?

Example to understand. Gloves that make 33% delay of lighting strick. Since the talent is in German it would just say that talent in english. If the talent was named Reduced lighting delay then that would be the mod. Put them on and the square would be lite if it was not but the number 5 would be greed out. When you mouse over it and click it only the number changes. The text over would say "An item is currently giving this talent. If you chooze to add the 5 points to the talent then you only keep talent when gloves are removed...

You can read it here .. it says:
From what I have seen on TS the base damage of the weapons has been increased.
It will change for all weapons no matter if you have it or not.

Never. We fired him because he has a very ugly coffee mug. Joking, of course...

--About Premium and benefits: well, of course, Premium members benefit from certain options than non-Premium players have; they paid for it. That's why it's called Premium, I suppose. There is always going to be a little difference in the number of options that a Premium player has as opposed to a non-Premium user; however, our ideal is to maintain the balance between one extreme and the other. It's hard, of course, but the team bears that in mind.
--Emh, I am not sure whether I understand what you are saying (sorry, rookie here!!). The new enchantments could increase your Hitpoints, Damage or Armor (depending on the item slot) by a percentage value, yes. Is this what you were talking about?

Hey there! The designers have confirmed that they will remain the same, with different travel speeds between the mounts. This does not mean that this may stay like this in the future. But for the moment, consider those stats as they are.

The team will look at other PvP issues (matchmaking being one of them) after Lor'Tac. We know it's on the roadmap in the redesign map but unfortunately we cannot tell you when it will be taken into action. Sorry!!

Interesting, mr @Darwarren. Will forward it to the devs for future considerations.

@DSO_Fan_Boy, you deserve a satire cookie.

All questions related to the Wisdom and Fame trees (specially the latest one) - please read
We know there are a number of critics/complaints that you guys are having towards the new wisdom and fame systems and we would like to explain you better why we are going for a change in these trees - there is a logic behind it, hard to believe, uh? By looking at the feedback, it seems that Wisdom is not that of a problem but PvP it is, since you feel that the new system is "lame" or "will push players away from PvP" or "it does not bring incentives" or "it's an insult to veterans"..., and a long etc of "no, please, no".

To be honest with you, this change has not been something made from one day to the other but a process that has involved different game designers and a lot of thinking. I cannot go now into full detailed explanation of all the changes though. You have already an explanatory thread on the Test Server forum and one of our Game Designers is currently working on a video that will be presented to you during Twitch and also on our Youtube channel. Long speech short: the design goal was to offer players more freedom of choice when building their characters and ultimately, give you more diverse play styles. Also, they have built a foundation to add more talents to both trees in the future!

It's quite the change but we believe, for the better.
Besides, the game designers are not stopping at Lor'Tac and what you will see in Release 155. They will keep on working on the trees.

Let's talk about cooldowns... Those will be covered in the video as well!
The designers are still applying changes and will probably keep on applying them during next week.

I know you personally hate it. You have proclaimed it loud and clear through these boards - and you are entitled to your opinion and that´s perfectly fine. Now, that does not necessarily mean that ALL people hate it, or that 97% of the people hate it (man, hating is such a word...). Actually, by looking at the different feedback sheets that we are running across national boards, the situation looks like Mr Armando here is mentioning: yes, the system is quite new, there is always a first reaction against novelty when it comes to this kind of changes, and it looks as a "loss" to veteran players for all the various reasons you are discussing above (please make sure you also post them on the Test Server boards, since our team is daily monitoring them). Those players who feel that the new system is less good than the one before are voicing their constructive feedback and the designers are already applying changes. Because the system is not final in that respect. It's a foundation, a core, a new system upon which the design team will keep on adding and changing by reading your feedback and seeing their in-game statistic charts.

After this release, people will keep on playing arena. And after this release, guild battles will arrive.
And other positive additions to this game, we are sure of that.

In this case we are letting you guys raise your own voice. The team is reading you, directly. You will understand that we cannot include every single piece of feedback or suggestions that you guys are giving us - that would be impossible, insane, and probably quite unhealthy for the game as a whole. The team cares about this game. In short, we are not ruining it.

You can throw peanuts now. Read you all tomorrow!

All of the old fame rewards are now going to be given to everyone, would that not be considered an insult to veteran players?

The entire incentive in guild wars is to create a super guild(s). I look forward to seeing the threads on how "positive" it is for the players who don't get to be a part of the super guilds.

Yes, I have read that part, I was only confused if that update will be implemented in older items that we currently have or only in new items we get after R155.
