Very nice - what are the stats and how much does it cost to upgrade around level 40 and level 45?

Just make sure you've got nice gems to fill those slots with, before you open extra ones with Andermant ;). It ain't cheap.

Thanks both. To thebearreturns, the resistance is because of PvP. I'm trying to do more PvP and to do that, you generally need a well rounded build. If it were't for the PvP aspect, I'd probably replace 300-400 of that resist with HP gems for PvE. The speed is all courtesy of the 5x8.0% speed gems and the 7.5% speed on the Tear Holder (and 3 Jewels of Rage). I do enjoy it for 5v5 as the HP/Armor/Resist make it possible for me to run flags, while the damage makes kills easy too. I just got LVL 35 PvP the other day and it makes a world of difference in 1v1 and 5v5 (have yet to test in 3v3 and 6v6).

To jthames, I do love the DK class. I recognize that this is a MMO and designed to be social and encourage grouping, but I love that a 2H DK these days can take everything that you throw at it. I don't always have the time or the patience to group and my DK means that I can make that call when ever I'd like.

I'll echo what the others have said. 779 crit for 3M glyphs is very reasonable. You will likely use that until you hit LVL 50 and need to look for something that is a little less expensive than 22M. While better ones may exist, you will be hard pressed to find them so it is not unreasonable to open the slots up to use for the future. Start with opening slots 3 and 4, but wait for slot 5 until you are mostly radiant gems in there. That is when the ander spent on the gem slot will be less than the gem you'd want to put in there.

Not exactly worth bragging about, but it's the best I've found yet.

I used too a pink 2-hand sword before i've found a legendary one(a better one), but my sword had better base dmg- max 410 without stones , but for begining is a nice one :)

The nice thing about the Exo items is that they are cheap to upgrade too. I had a 2H Exo sword (102.1% weapon damage, 457 crit) and that lasted me for several months while I hunted for a better legendary. It also replaced my Steam Axe that served me very well for over a year.

That's true, i've found my current armor right after the release that eliminated COT's and i still haven't replaced it:

I've still not seen a single legendary 2h weapon drop yet, but having read the thread about how messed up upgrading can be, it is cheaper to upgrade an exo, but still over 10 million.

10.54M vs 52.22M for 43-->50... I'd say that is not too bad. My Legendary LVL 43 2H already has 9.32M invested in it and that only gets it to 48. Never use the cost to get something to LVL 50 as your baseline as that is usually so expensive that it is unreasonable. Instead, look at +3 to +5 levels depending on the starting level. That sort of goal is usually achievable.

I got it up to lvl 44 today, but each level only gains about 30 dmg total, which is better than nothing but still a long ways from a nice sword like yours. I'm guessing that sooner or later luck will find me and a 2h leg of some kind will fall from the DSO gods.

I've really considered spending the 100 gold to attempt crafting one, but it's darn near impossible to find 4 exo swords, so I may have to wait for luck.

Maybe farm some of the maps that have guaranteed exo drops (like Q1 or M1, etc.)? But yeah, I can imagine that it's extra hard for DKs, since you guys have 3 types of 1Hs and 3 of 2Hs. Good luck, nonetheless. Crafting may not be the best method... I mean, you could get a useless weapon for that huge amount of gold, but it's either that or the luck of the drop. Anyway, back to crafting... so if you put in 4 items of a kind, you're guaranteed to get a higher tier item of that type, but what about enchantments? Say, if you combine 4 swords, all with 2 lines of % increased weapon damage and 2 with + regular damage, is there any guarantee that you'll get one with the same enchants, or is it completely random, just like the drop?

Out from my experience is random. I could craft 4 pink swords all with 4x crit rate and still be so lucky to get the most epic legendary 2h.
Is like with the price value of items, some players believe the higher the cost, the better the item may be. Which is quite hilarious, cause I had legendary 2h's worth 5+ gold having crit rate/dmg/wep% enchantments that we're really bad and other ones worth 2+ gold having 60%+ wep damage etc. Is all about luck really. :)

its totally random i reckon even you got all exo-s with 4 gem slots you can get a legi with 3 slots or 2. i dont craft anymore just hope for the big drop.

Regarding that randomness factor: is it better to replace a Legendary item with an Extraordinary one if the Extra has superior stats? Or should one always stay with the (supposedly) "higher" gear (ie, the Lege)?

You go with what works best for you; whatever gives you the best stats for your way of play. Titles or classifications mean very little.
The Damage Performance Index (DPI) can crunch the numbers for you. There's a link in the forums.

On a side note, the legendary might be used for an achievement bonus.
Many legendary items are only temporary, until Unique sets provide better stats and a set bonus.
Eventually a player will have enough experience or luck to get rare legendary or extraordinary pieces with outstanding stats. They can essential to your build for a long time.

Here are my stats as of today:

My armor is getting close to where I need it to be, along with crit hit hate. I need a nice boost in crit dmg and hp and I also need a bit more resistance.

My main lacking is dmg. It's less than half of what I need.

Looking through unique sets, only the Warlord set makes sense with the 15% armor and 30% dmg bonus for 2h.

All other possible sets would cause me to lose a ton of armor (over 50%) and resistance (30%) while not really giving me the much needed boost in dmg.

But no matter what I do, all real dmg stats begin with the right weapon and enchantments.

Currently I can run any regular map without any ess or health pots and breeze through it pretty easily.

If I run HOD, I can do the regular monsters with green and use blue for bosses/beetles, but it is very slow going and I die a few times per run.

If I use blue, I can run through rather quickly, but then after a few runs, I need to stop and spend a ton of time farming for more blue ess where no good gear is going to drop.

I haven't been playing long enough to have a stockpile of ess yet, so that holds me back a bit.

It's a little tough to get hod groups most of the time. My guild has helped a lot but they like to do pvp when that is active and they can run the hard maps so much faster without me slowing them down, so I've done a lot of solo runs in between farming for ess.

I know that crafting doesn't guarantee any useful gear, but how much worse can it really be?

I've gotten 13 or 14 leg 1 hand weapons running events or hod, but have not seen one single 2h leg since I've been playing. Heck, I've only gotten 3 purple ones, so I'm thinking that if the purple are that rare in drops, legs have to be incredibly rare.

Until I get a decent weapon of some kind, I've been using all my gops to upgrade as best I can. With the exception of my ring of death, all my current gear was originally lvl 40 through 43.

I think that I've done okay for only playing around 40 days, but a decent weapon would make a huge difference.

Let me give you an example and you tell me.

Imagine you have a Legendary 2H sword with +36.2% Weapon damage, +28.7% crit damage, +42 damage, and +312 crit with 2 slots (P.S. This is the most recent 2H I crafted).

Next, Imagine you find a 2h with +70.2% weapon damage, +62.3% weapon damage, and + 72 damage and a full four slots (I have never had an exo like this drop, but it is theoretically possible).

Which one would you keep? The Exo would be cheap to upgrade, cheap to open the last slot on, and would have significantly higher damage (and likely DPI too). In this way, today's free identification is nice compared to the time of CoTs because it means that a F2P player actually stands a chance at finding these nice random Exos while looking to craft/find the perfect legendary. Randomness is a pain in the rear, but sometimes it means you get lucky in unexpected ways.

I wouldn't worry too much about your resistance, that is plenty high enough. As you said, damage is where you are hurting and that will be luck, plain and simple (for the good 2H) until the Dragan event comes next.

What you could do is farm up about 10k ander and buy the Steam Axe when it is on sale next. It costs a lot, but 100% weapon damage, 300 crit and a guaranteed 4 slots is very nice. It will likely last you for several months during your quest for a better 2h. Me, I used it for over a year while looking for a good legendary.

Below are a couple of posts from when I was using that axe for comparisons.

This one was with the Warlord set so it is a little higher than you'd expect without the warlord set.
Seen here is with Sargon items,
And finally, here is an image with no significant sets in play other than the 2 defender items boosting my armor.
